Visiting a Patient

Visiting Hours

General Visiting Hours are 0800 – 2000 (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM)

If you are a designated caregiver, please connect with your loved one’s care team as we welcome your support beyond general visiting hours.  The presence of designated caregivers will need to be balanced with patient and staff safety.

Mask Friendly Environment

The Concordia campus is a safe and respectful environment and is mask-friendly for all who choose to wear a mask.

Wearing a mask is optional for visitors to most areas.  There may be specific clinical areas where masks are required.  Signage will clearly indicate situations and settings where Additional Precautions are in place.

Patients/residents/clients may request that staff wear a mask while providing their care.  Similarly, symptomatic patients/residents/clients will be asked to wear a mask for the safety of everyone around them.

Medical masks are available upon entry to health facilities as well as at any team station.

Clean Your Hands

Visitors are required to stop at a mask / hand sanitizing station at the entrance to our building.  Please clean your hands upon arrival and then frequently during your visit.  You can help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses and other germs.

Stay home if you are feeling unwell If you are feeling ill, or feel sick, please do not visit.  Virtual Visits are still available on a limited basis.

Who May Visit

The support of family and friends is important to a person in hospital. Visitors are appreciated and welcome. It’s recommended that no more than two visitors be in a patient’s room at a time because of the limited space available.

Pets are generally not allowed to visit. Special consideration is made for Service Dogs and for Pet Therapy. These arrangements must be made in advance with the Manager of Patient Care on the unit.

If you have questions
If you have questions about visiting a patient, call the team station of the unit you wish to visit.

If you need help finding a unit
Staff at our information desk can provide you with a map highlighting your route and destination. Also, Concordia volunteers are available to help you find your way. You can recognize our volunteers by the blue vests/jackets they wear. You may also ask any of our staff to give you directions. Each member of our hospital team is required to wear an identification badge. Our staff can answer questions of where departments are located, or refer you to someone who can help you find your way.
